Jingle bells, jingle bells…

It’s the end of the year – hurray!

We’ve had a fantastic year with some outstanding achievements by our students and academics, but also a very eventful year – I’m certainly looking forward to my holiday break!

While it’s been a busy 12 months, we’ve also had time for some fun… so here are some of my (personal) highlights from 2015:

  • Seeing both the Eagles and the Dockers make the footy finals (and watching the rivalry among our students and professors!)
  • My holiday to Alaska (and showing everyone the slideshow of my 324 photos)
  • Being impressed by our students’ success: placing very highly in national competitions; launching social entrepreneurship projects; managing a $20,000 investment fund and more
  • Establishing new partnerships with leading universities around the world
  • Seeing the dedication of our researchers recognised when UWA received the maximum rating of ‘well above world standard’ for ‘Business and Management’ in the Australian Research Council’s recent Excellence in Research for Australia results
  • Watching the Young Alumni network continue to grow and hold professional development events (to get involved, contact Marie Claire Bennetts)

The festive season is also a time to think about those who are less fortunate. As a university we support several charities, and many UWA students choose to undertake Service Learning (where students put their skills to use in an array of projects, from helping refugees to assisting disadvantaged children). If you’d like to be involved in Service Learning next year, information for students is here and information for organisations can be found by contacting us.

Finally, I’d like to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and New Year and thank those who contributed to the Business School’s success this year. I very much value the commitment and hard work of all our staff, students and supporters.

Now… off to do my Christmas shopping!

Phil
